The availability of clean water and proper sanitation is essential for daily life in order to avoid diseases such as diarrhea, cholera, dysentery, skin diseases, and poisoning. Unfortunately, the availability of clean water and sanitation in Indonesia is still inadequate and unevenly distributed, even in remote areas, and is still far from being considered “adequate”. As a result, many people still use public facilities such as rivers for activities such as bathing, defecating, washing clothes and cooking utensils, and even washing food ingredients, despite the poor quality of the water. In some areas, people even have to store rainwater for use.

The lack of attention from the Government and limitation of budget have caused the provision or repair of clean water facilities to be neglected or abandoned. Therefore, companies play an important role in helping to improve the welfare of the community, one of which is by distributing access to clean water to households for some communities.

Clean water and proper sanitation are among the goals of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As a manifestation of SUNI’s commitment to this program, SUNI has built clean water and sanitation facilities located in Cibeber Village, West Bogor. SUNI facilitated this activity by providing proper bathrooms and washing facilities that could be used by local residents. It also installed hoses to channel water to other neighborhood associations.
